Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The module is offered in collaboration with the cross disciplinary Sustainable Development Lab at Aalborg University – Copenhagen Campus. The Sustainable Development Lab invites master students from different disciplines to work in interdisciplinary groups to develop solutions to sustainable development problems and challenges in collaboration with external stakeholders. This module is anchored in the Research group of Techno-Anthropology and Participation, Department of Sustainability and Planning.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • acquire knowledge and enact understanding of theory and/or method at the highest international level within Techno-Anthropology applicable to sustainable development.
  • acquire knowledge and enact understanding of theory and/or methods for the acquisition of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) competencies: system thinking, futures thinking, values thinking, strategic thinking, interpersonal and collaboration competences as well as problem formulation and -solving competences.  

Skills

  • applying Techno-Anthropology theory and/or methods to sustainable development problems.
  • developing skills to apply ESD competences: Systems thinking, futures thinking, values thinking, strategic thinking, interpersonal and collaboration competences as well as problem formulation and -solving competences. 

Competences

  • independently initiate Techno-Anthropology work that requires new sustainable development solutions in collaboration with students from different study programs and stakeholders.
  • managing a development process for own professional specialization in applying Techo-Anthropology to sustainable development.
  • critically reflecting on the application of ESD competences for new sustainable development solutions and how Techno-Anthropology can take part in interdisciplinary collaboration.
