Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The student conducts a project work within an external organisation to acquire practical experience in solving advanced techno-anthropological challenges in a professional context. This module is anchored in the Research group of Techno-Anthropology and Participation, Department of Sustainability and Planning.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • account for the external organisation, including its work practices, actors, technologies, hidden assumptions, and/or contradictions.
  • account for the student’s positioning within the organisation and the organisation’s role in a professional and societal context.

Skills

  • demonstrate and communicate the student’s theoretical and methodological contributions to concrete tasks in the external organisation.
  • assess how the student was able to attend the work tasks and contribute to the external organisation's mission.

Competences

  • speak the professional language of the external organisation.
  • reflecting on 1) how the project work in the external organisation benefitted the student’s academic, professional, and social skills, and competences, 2) to what extent the external organisation benefitted from the project work, and 3) how can learning from the internship be used for future employability.
  • communicate work results by targeting different actors.
  • reflect on how experiences and data from work in an external organisation can contribute to the student’s master’s thesis.
  • develop well justified ethical competences.
  • take responsibility for own professional development and specialisation.
