Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • Can explain concepts, theories and methods within image analysis
  • Can account for how images can be analysed using data-based and model-based methods
  • Can explain linear and non-linear methods for inter-subject and intra-subject image registration
  • Can explain the geometric properties of medical images
  • Can account for the use of machine learning in image analysis

Skills

  • Can implement and apply basic image analysis algorithms including filtering, morphology, segmentation, geometric transformations, intensity transformations, and texture analysis
  • Can apply methods to detect and extract objects from images
  • Can apply image analysis methods to extract image features
  • Can use linear registration of images
  • Can apply methods to perform a time sequence analysis

Competences

  • Can demonstrate understanding of theories and methods in image analysis
  • Can choose relevant image analysis methods to solve biomedical problems based on medical images
