Learning objectives
Knowledge
Through the specific module, participants achieve the
following:
- knowledge about fiber-reinforced composite materials, including
their application, properties, and manufacturing.
Understanding of the following concepts and theories:
- Manufacturing methods and their influence on the mechanical
properties of composites.
- Lamina and laminates: micromechanical models, modeling of
laminates, classical laminate theory, first-order plate laminate
theory.
- Analysis of composite structures: plate and shell modeling
using analytical models and commercial finite element programs.
Including:
- Thermal effects.
- Failure and damage (static and fatigue).
- Sandwich structures.
- Adhesive joints and mechanical connections, load introduction
aspects, 3D effects, and general design principles.
Skills
- Apply concepts, theories, and methods for the analysis and
design of composite materials and complex structures made of
composite materials.
- Evaluate structural analyses for complex structures made of
composite materials.
Competences
- Handle development and product design using composite
materials.
- Develop procedures for the analysis, design, and verification
of components made of composite materials.
