Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The module introduces various dramaturgies in relation to ludic events and participatory artefacts. Furthermore, the module introduces mobile technologies and their usage in play-based participatory event design.

Knowledge

During this module, students should acquire:

Basic knowledge about

  • basic theories and dramaturgies of play-based design and events
  • experiences and events as cultural phenomenon
  • various mobile technologies and their usage in ludic artefacts and events.

Skills

Skills in

  • creating and describing concepts of play-based artefacts and events
  • using and applying mobile technologies in artistic frames within play-based participatory events and projects
  • using ludic events and participatory events as strategies for participant involvement

Competences

Competencies in

  • designing, implementing, and reflecting on ludic artefacts and events
  • identifying and reflecting on ludic strategies for participant involvement within other fields

Active participation/continuous evaluation
Active participation in the module’s series of lectures and other course related activities is required. Active participation is defined as reading of set literature, 80 % attendance of the module’s series of lectures and other course related activities, contribution to the module’s discussion sessions through presentations and active participation in discussions as well as hand in of all assignments.
If a student does not meet the requirements for active participation, the following re-exam is conducted:

Internal written exam in the module “Play and Event”.
Hand in: Individual.
The examination is a free assignment. For the exam students are required to produce a play-based artefact or event and hand in a reflective report.

Number of pages: the written work must not exceed 10 pages.
The assignment will be evaluated by the examiner.
