Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

In the module, the student must acquire theories and methods of analysis within contemporary aesthetics, visual culture and digital communication. The module comprises a problem-based learning approach to investigating, developing and understanding meaning-making and interaction in visual practice and participation on social media, in urban spaces and in artistic communication.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

Through the module, the student must gain knowledge and understanding of:

  • Current research within the discipline contemporary aesthetics, visual culture and digital communication
  • Theories within the discipline as well as comprehension of scientific objectives and problems within the field and analytical methods of relevance for the discipline

Skills

The student must through the module acquire skills in:

  • To choose and use theory, methods, and analytical approaches in relation to problems of the discipline
  • To analyse, discuss, and evaluate communication interventions on a scientific basis within the discipline

Competences

The student must through the module acquire competences for:

  • To identify and define complex problems within the discipline and suggest new models for
  • Understanding and or solutions to combine knowledge and skills within the discipline
