Prerequisite for participation in the module

The student must have passed all preceding modules.

Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The aim of the module is to provide the student with the opportunity to further develop their understanding of economic theory and methodology through an in-depth analysis of a self-chosen and well-defined issue.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The aim is that after the module the student has knowledge of:

  • scientific issues within the socio-economic field.
  • socio-economic issues and can reflect on these on a scientific basis.
  • the economic theories relevant to the issue.

Skills

The aim is that after the module the student has skills to:

  • selecting relevant theory, methods, and data, and developing solution models based on a scientific approach.
  • applying economic theory, methods, and tools to specific issues from an empirical or theoretical standpoint.
  • developing a written and oral presentation of the project's issue, methodology, analysis, and conclusions in a scientific, clear, and correct language.

Competences

The aim is that after the module the student has the competencies in:

  • independently initiate and conduct academic and interdisciplinary collaboration and take on professional responsibility.
  • engage in professional collaboration with external parties, including the supervisor, in relation to a relevant socio-economic issue and, based on that, create space for new perspectives to qualify the proposed solutions.
  • take responsibility for their own learning and professional development within socio-economic issues, both individually and, if applicable, in group contexts, and argue and discuss from a scientific foundation.
