Knowledge
- The derivation of the physical model
- Function spaces and existence of weak solutions
- Galerkin approximation
- Properties and local existence of strong solutions
- Vanishing viscosity limit
Skills
- Can prove the existence of weak solutions
- Identify the conditions for the local existence of strong solutions
- Can implement the Galerkin method.
Competences
- Are able to read, understand and make use of advanced literature about the Navier-Stokes equations
- Are able to connect, formulate and analyze scientific problems related to fluid dynamics.

Lectures with exercises.
Extent and expected workload
This is a 5 ECTS course module and the work load is
expected to be 150 hours for the student.
