The course aims to provide the student with knowledge of concepts, methods, and techniques for working with interaction design in practice. The student will, among other things, learn to reflect on their own design practice with systematic critique of their own and others’ designs, as well as communication of design ideas and concepts. The course also introduces the use of design portfolios and supports the development of the student’s own portfolio. The course is closely linked with the project module "Project-Oriented Study in an External Organisation", allowing the student to apply concepts, methods, and techniques in their own practice

Learning objectives

Knowledge

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • How designers professionally critique their own and others’ interaction designs.
  • Communication of design concepts.
  • Graphic portfolios as a tool to communicate skills within interaction design.

Skills

  • Must be able to apply concepts, methods, and techniques to work with interaction design in organizational practice.
  • Must be able to illustrate a coherent interaction design and concept from organizational practice.
  • Must be able to conduct reflection and critique of their own and others’ design practices.
  • Must be able to create a graphic portfolio of selected works with interaction design from organizational practice.

Competences

  • Must be able to reflect on their own interaction design practice.
  • Must be able to reflect on how their own interaction design practice contributes to other existing organizational practices

Type of instruction

Course with lectures and workshops related to the project module "Project-Oriented Study in an External Organisation"

The type of instruction is organised in accordance with the general instruction methods of the programme, cf. § 17.

Extent and expected workload

The student is expected to spend 30 hours per ECTS, which for this activity means 150 hours.
