PURPOSE
The module aims to provide knowledge and skills regarding interactive physical products and technologies, including how physical elements can be integrated, designed and used in interactive technologies. The module introduces and integrates knowledge of physical, mechanical and/or active components, physical data processing, sensors, microcontrollers, simple control and interface design. Through design and studies of physical design and user interfaces on various products, as well as functionality and design of physical interactive elements, an understanding of principles and solution types is sought. The module can contain various forms of physical design, for example shape-changing interfaces or moving technologies such as robots.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • must have knowledge of the basic characteristics of physical interactive products
  • must have knowledge of commonly used components in connection with mechanical and movable design

Skills

  • must be able to design and assemble a coherent interactive product based on basic physical design components
  • must be able to describe the physical interactive design with concepts and specialist terminology

Competences

  • must be able to analyze and implement moving components, associated control and interface to a cohesive product
  • must be able to reflect on the use and application of physical design elements in interactive products

Type of instruction

The teaching is organized in accordance with the general teaching methods for the education, cf. section 17
