PURPOSE
The purpose of the project module is to introduce the students to designing and constructing a mobile application that supports a selected context of use. A prototype in the form of a mobile application must be programmed and contain a user interface, a function and database layer or equivalent multi-layer architecture where data is persisted. The prototype must also be of a dynamic nature, where the program code processes input from the mobile device's technical interfaces (e.g. screen, physical buttons, camera, microphone, GPS, biometrics, etc.) in connection with supporting the context of use. The prototype must be demonstrable

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • must demonstrate knowledge of how a mobile application is constructed, including how the mobile device's interfaces are accessed and used
  • must demonstrate knowledge of how the mobile application supports a selected context of use
  • knowledge of theories from human-machine interaction about the design and evaluation of mobile applications
  • distribution of mobile applications for different platforms and contexts of use

Skills

  • must be able to organize and implement a development process that results in a running prototype of a mobile application and argue for strengths and weaknesses through principles and guidelines for implementing mobile applications
  • must be able to analyze the context of use for a mobile application and justify design choices
  • must be able to evaluate the developed mobile application in relation to a selected context of use

Competences

  • must be able to develop a mobile application in accordance with its context of use
  • must be able to justify process and design decisions based on theory and the selected context
