Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The bachelor’s project is based on a specific data source from an application area, typically in collaboration with an external partner. An analysis of relevant issues and analysis methods must be conducted, followed by an actual data analysis. Ethical, legal, and security aspects must be included.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • Document knowledge of and overview of the relevant techniques and concepts within a data science research area
  • Use correct technical terminology

Skills

  • Reason about and with the relevant concepts and techniques
  • Justify and choose relevant solution models based on knowledge of the possibilities and limitations provided by the theories and methods of the field
  • Communicate a data science problem and the associated conceptual framework

Competences

  • Apply the concepts and reasoning within the field to analyze and solve a selected problem within the chosen data science field
  • Use project management techniques and methods to document and manage complex collaborations
  • Be able to reflect on one’s own practice in literature search, citation, and source criticism

Type of instruction

In addition to project work, there will be lectures, study groups, and/or self-study of project-relevant topics within the domain, possibly supplemented with mini-projects.

Extent and expected workload

The student is expected to spend 30 hours per ECTS, which for this activity means 600 hours.
