PURPOSE
That the student acquires knowledge of developing a database system for a specific context of use and experience with developing a complex software system.

JUSTIFICATION
The project work combines the application of knowledge from the courses in System development, Database development and Basic object-oriented programming as well as the course in Design and Programming of user interfaces (on IxD2) in relation to a concrete application. This reflects typical practices for developing systems that include a complex database

  • understand and explain the practical application of theories, concepts and methods within database development, system analysis and design as well as object-oriented programming

  • must be able to analyze and design a database for a specific application
  • must be able to implement a significant part of the system in an object-oriented environment

  • must be able to justify and evaluate a database design
  • must be able to describe and evaluate a software development process
  • must be able to discuss the interaction between database design and software development
  • must be able to describe, reflect on and analyze the experiences gained with problem-oriented project work in a group
