PURPOSE
To enable the student to acquire knowledge and skills in agile approaches to the analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation of large software systems in a larger development environment consisting of multiple projects.

RATIONALE
In solving problems related to the development of large software systems in a larger development environment, sub-projects must be coordinated to achieve a common solution. The student must gain an understanding of the issues involved in developing such systems and how agile system development can be used for this purpose. Working on analyzing, designing, programming, and testing an application with significant functionality that is to be integrated into an organizational environment focuses on agile requirements management, inter-project leadership, programming of large software systems, and test management

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • To be able to document knowledge of and an overview of key techniques in the agile development of a large software system that solves realistic problems,
  • including being able to explain with correct terminology:
    • Requirements management
    • Architecture
    • Configuration management
    • Test management

Skills

  • To analyze, design, program, test, and evaluate applications that are part of an organizational environment.
  • To reason about and with the relevant concepts and techniques.
  • To justify and choose relevant solution models based on knowledge of the possibilities and limitations provided by the theories and methods of the field.

Competences

  • To delimit and implement the solution of a part of a larger system development problem using relevant techniques.
  • To analyze and evaluate the solution process and the resulting solution.

Type of instruction

Project work in multi-projects. Each group submits their own report, but there is collaboration across multiple groups on the development of a common system.

Extent and expected workload

The student is expected to spend 30 hours per ECTS, which for this activity means 450 hours.
