Internship for Bachelors of Engineering

Prerequisite for participation in the module

Completion of the 5th semester of the Bachelor of Engineering Programme in Sustainable Energy Engineering.
The Study Board of Energy may, upon application and individual assessment, grant exemption from the prerequisite requirement.
It is recommended that the student has followed "Introduction to internship for Bachelors of Engineering" in order to start the internship in and participate in the exam.

Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • Have knowledge about a company's organisation and work from an engineering point of view
  • Be able to understand the connection between the theory included in the programme and engineering practice

Skills

  • Be able to analyse whether the profession is encountering new scientific needs which should/might be accommodated by the study programme
  • Be able to assess whether the learning objectives of the internship have been met

Competences

  • Be able to analyse the academic, work-related and social benefits of the internship
  • Manage complex and development-oriented situations in a study or work context.

Type of instruction

The internship takes place in the last part of the 6th semester and the first part of the 7th semester in accordance with the guidelines specified in "Guidelines for Bachelor of Engineering Internships" (in Danish). The specific time for the commencement of the internship will be communicated separately. After completing the internship period, the student must write an internship report and submit a copy to the company. The internship report must follow the guidelines applying to a project report and must contain: a description of the company a description of the company's fields of work information about the relevance of the internship to the study programme in general information about the relevance of study programme to the internship an analysis of the profession’s possible new scientific needs which should/might be undertaken by the study programme an assessment of the learning objectives described in the preliminary agreement: o an overview and technical assessment and description of at least one of one of the fields of work in which the student was involved during the internship. o an analysis of how the student has benefited from the internship - academically, professionally and socially.

Extent and expected workload

Since the internship is a 30 ECTS internship, the work load is expected to be 900 hours for the student.

  • Approved PBL competence profile is a prerequisite for participation in the project exam.

Oral exam based on a project
Individual oral examination and assessment based on the internship according to the "Retningslinjer for diplomingeniørpraktik" under the Department of Energy.

The exam is held by the student's practice coordinator (examiner) and the external examiner and, if possible, with the participation of the internship supervisor. However, the assessment itself takes place only between the examiner and external examiner.

The basis for the examination is the internship report and the diary and is held according to the rules of Examination in Project Modules according to the Examination Policies and Procedures.
