The module is based on knowledge achieved when studying the 2nd semester on the Master of Science in Energy Engineering with an electrical or thermal specialisation or Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Engineering with specialisation in Offshore Energy Systems or similar.
After dominating the consumer electronics market, batteries have developed as enablers of the green transition as they are a vital technology in the electrification of the transportation sector and decarbonization of the energy generation industry.
The course aims to provide students with a basic introduction and understanding of the battery performance behavior. Furthermore, different battery modeling approaches and their specific utilization will be discussed.
The course is planned and organised closely with the ongoing research and development activities at AAU Energy and by following the well-established PBL approach. All lectures will include a mixture of class teaching, exercises, reflections, and lecturer/supervisor feedback. Furthermore, the students will develop a mini-project using the concepts presented during the lectures.
Since it is a 5 ECTS course module, the work load is expected to be 150 hours for the student.
