Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The module is based on advanced HRM theory. It provides the student with knowledge, competencies and skills in different theoretical approaches to HRM as well as the application of different types of HRM related methods.

The module supports theoretical and practical reflections on different types of issues in HRM. Therefore, committed interaction between teachers and students is required. The student is introduced to interparadigmatic reflections on philosophy of science in a strategic HRM related context.

Learning objectives


The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • key theoretical aspects of HRM and can reflect on these.
  • theoretical and practical advantages and disadvantages of applying different theoretical perspectives, methods, including digital methods, and approaches to a key HRM issue.


The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills in:

  • dealing reflexively and critically with issues in HRM.
  • clarifying and identifying key practical and theoretical issues of greater or lesser complexity in HRM.
  • applying theory to practical issues in HRM.


The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences in:

  • apply a problem-oriented approach to key issues in HRM.
  • be able to argue on a scientific basis in HRM to different target groups.
