Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The module deals with the most central aspects of corporate financial management and control, including financial analysis, the definition of value drivers and general management with the aim of creating value for shareholders.

The module will include a series of activities combined with independent problem solving, including the use of digital tools, which will enhance the students’ ability to apply digital skills to solve concrete problems.

During the course, the theoretical models will be concretised with practical examples, so that the student gains an understanding of the models’ practical application.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • key theoretical approaches to financial management and control.
  • can exemplify and explain key methodological aspects of the subject.
  • can identify and reflect on key methodological approaches in financial management and control.

Skills

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills in:

  • selecting relevant and key methods to examine financial management and control theoretically and practically.
  • applying a theory to a key practical problem in financial management and control.
  • selecting relevant theories in order to understand and analyse a practical problem related to financial management and control.

Competences

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences in:

  • be able to organise and carry out independent analysis of key issues in financial management and control.
  • translate knowledge and skills to engage in processes related to financial management and governance on a professional, interdisciplinary, and professional basis.
  • independently assume professional responsibility for leading people and processes in financial management and control.
