  • The derivation of the physical model
  • Function spaces and existence of weak solutions
  • Galerkin approximation
  • Properties and local existence of strong solutions
  • Vanishing viscosity limit

Skills

  • Can prove the existence of weak solutions
  • Identify the conditions for the local existence of strong solutions
  • Can implement the Galerkin method.

Competences

  • Are able to read, understand and make use of advanced literature about the Navier-Stokes equations
  • Are able to connect, formulate and analyze scientific problems related to fluid dynamics.

Lectures with exercises.
