Learning objectives

Knowledge

The student must attain

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • social and political problems in the field of migration
  • knowledge of theories on migration, integration, borders and mobility
  • knowledge about how border – and migration theories can be used in analyses of international migration mobility patterns and refugees issues.

Skills

The student must attain

Skills in:

  • analyzing international social and political problems from a migration studies perspective
  • analyzing central problems in debates and controversies about diversity, migration and mobility.

 

Competences

The student must attain

Competencies in:

  • describing, reflecting and arguing on the basis of scientific knowledge about the migration and mobility related implications of social and political issues in international society
  • communicating the practical and theoretical dimensions of debates and controversies surrounding diversity, migration and mobility.

Written exam (individual).

The examination is an individual exam portfolio; the content of the portfolio must demonstrate that the student has achieved the above-mentioned learning objectives and has participated actively in course activities.

The requirements for the contents of the portfolio will be determined by the course instructor at the start of the semester.

The assignment paper will be evaluated by the examiner. Any re-examinations will be held in held in accordance with the above guidelines on the basis of a revised exam portfolio.
