Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The module will provide an overview of selected areas of management accounting and the student will be taught to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of selected management accounting models. The focus will be on designing selected management accounting models to suit the information needs of the business. It will draw on classic management accounting literature as well as recent research in the field.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • selected theoretical approaches to management accounting.
  • theoretical and practical advantages and disadvantages of applying selected theoretical perspectives, methods and approaches to a selected issue in management accounting.

Skills

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills in:

  • dealing analytically and critically with selected issues in management accounting.
  • developing understanding and solutions in selected areas of management accounting based on scientific analysis.

Competences

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences in:

  • being able to independently organising and carrying out analyses of selected issues in management accounting.
  • combining theory and practice in an academic way on selected issues related to management accounting.
