BSc Project: Control of offshore systems

2023/2024

Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The module is based on knowledge achieved in the module Offshore dynamic systems or similar.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • Have knowledge about design of components and systems used offshore
  • Be able to understand scientific methods and theories in relation to the semester theme and be able to see the project in a larger whole

Skills

  • Be able to synthesise and design components or systems for offshore or maritime multidisciplinary systems, as well as assess the suitability of different solution principles
  • Be able to analyse the interactions and limitations of different technologies in the design process via digital tools
  • Have gained experience in laboratory work or by using real measured data series related to offshore system design conditions
  • Be able to analyse and evaluate results obtained from simulations and laboratory work or real measured data series

Competences

  • Be able to handle complex developments in study or work environments in the field of energy, particularly related to dynamic systems
  • Have the ability to participate in professional and interdisciplinary cooperation with a professional approach in the field of energy technology
  • Identify own learning needs and structure own learning in different learning environments in the field of energy
  • Have acquired the ability to translate academic knowledge and skills in dynamic systems into a practical problem in offshore energy systems and be able to process such a problem

Type of instruction

Problem based and project organised work in groups with focus on self-critical reflection and proactive participation. The project may be discipline-oriented, interdisciplinary or part of a multidisciplinary project depending on project choice.

Extent and expected workload

Since it is a 15 ECTS project work, the work load is expected to be 450 hours for the student.
