Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The purpose of this module is to allow students a unique opportunity to explore and conduct academic work. The module aims at students who want to test and extend the boundaries of Organisation, Strategy and Leadership, expand their knowledge, competencies, and skills in a research setting. This module can be well related to the “Business Cooperation” project where the practical issues in organizations are studied. The research nature of this module provides an opportunity to better prepare students for the master’s thesis writing.

The module results in a written product where the student explicate the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired. The written product can either be in the format of a project or a research article. The student is appointed a supervisor.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • a relevant and contemporary scientific issue within Organisation, Strategy and Leadership
  • how to apply relevant methods to analyse the chosen scientific issue.
  • how to structure scientific data and analyse it according to the chosen method and theory.   

Skills

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills in:

  • framing and analysing a relevant and contemporary scientific issue within Organisation, Strategy and Leadership 
  • situating finding(s) within a contemporary scientific debate.
  • constructing rigorous academic arguments about how the empirical and/or theoretical findings adds to the Organisation, Strategy and Leadership domains.

Competences

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences in:

  • accessing relevant and contemporary literature in Organisation, Strategy and Leadership in a structured way.
  • presenting and discussing scientific literature and data in accordance with the relevant scientific principles.
  • reflecting critically about the link between methods, theory, and findings and engage in a scientific discussion about these.
