Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The purpose of this module is to allow students a unique opportunity to explore and conduct academic work. The module aim at students that want to test, and extend, the boundaries of Management Accounting knowledge. This module provides a unique opportunity for students that want to test and expand their knowledge, competences, and skills in a research setting.

The module result in a written product where the student explicate the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired. The written product can either be in the format of a project or a research article. The student is appointed a supervisor.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • a relevant and contemporary scientific issue within management accounting.
  • how to apply relevant methods to analyse the chosen scientific issue.
  • how to structure scientific data and analyse it according to the chosen method and theory.   

Skills

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills to:

  • frame and analyse a relevant and contemporary scientific Management Accounting issue.  
  • situate finding(s) within a contemporary scientific management accounting debate.
  • construct trustworthy and rigor academic arguments about how the empirical and/or theoretical findings adds to the management accounting domain.

Competences

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences to:

  • access relevant and contemporary Management Accounting literature in a structured way.
  • present and discuss scientific literature and data in accordance with the relevant scientific principles.
  • reflect critically about the link between methods, theory, and findings and engage in a scientific discussion about these.
