Scientific challenges in International Business

Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The purpose of this module is to allow students a unique opportunity to explore and conduct academic work. The module aims at students who want to test and extend the boundaries of International Business, expand their knowledge, competences, and skills in a research setting. This module can be well related to the “Business Cooperation” project where the practical issues in organizations are studied. The research nature of this module provides an opportunity to better prepare students for the master’s thesis writing. 

The module result in a written product where the students explicate the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired. The written product can either be in the format of a project or a research article. The student is appointed a supervisor, who will assist students by providing advice and suggestions throughout the preparation of the written product.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • a relevant and contemporary scientific issue within International Business.
  • how to apply relevant methods to analyse the chosen scientific issue theoretically and practically.
  • how to plan, execute, and manage a research process that leads to a research article. 

Skills

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills in:

  • framing and analysing a relevant and contemporary scientific issue within International Business.
  • applying relevant scientific theories and methods to address the investigated scientific problem.
  • constructing rigorous arguments about how the empirical and/or theoretical findings adds to the International Business domain.

Competences

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences in:

  • accessing relevant and contemporary International Business literature in a structured way.
  • presenting and discussing scientific literature and data in accordance with the relevant scientific principles.
  • applying relevant knowledge, theories, and skills in International Business to be able to analyse, conceptualize and discuss the issues addressed in the article, and engage in a scientific discussion.
