Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

This module comprises a course in a topic central to current issues in globalisation research. The specific topic on offer will be decided by the study board on an annual basis. The module comprises lectures and seminars that include exercises and student contributions whenever relevant.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • the selected subject area and relevant theory pertaining to it
  • themes and trends in current globalisation research
  • various approaches to the study of globalisation.

  • the critical assessment, selection and application of relevant theories and methods to the study of globalisation
  • disseminating the chosen issue and the methodology for its analysis.
  • structuring a delimited and coherent professional academic presentation.

  • the delineation and analysis of a complex problem in a way that is independent and methodologically sound
  • academic reflection on a scientific basis
  • producing an oral presentation of academic material in a clear, balanced and targeted manner.

The academic topic of the examination is chosen by the student from within the disciplinary areas of the programme on the basis of the course offered (Current Issues II). The examination will be based on a subject description of 1-1½ pages, which must be approved in advance by the examiner. The examination will take the form of a conversation between the student and the examiners.
