Learning objectives


  • Must have a basic understanding of nanostructures
  • Must have the knowledge of how to manufacture simple artificial and natural nanostructures
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of properties of nanostructures


  • Must be able to apply the theory for production of simple artificial and natural nanostructures
  • Must be able to characterize simple artificial and natural nanostructures by using microscopy and spectroscopy
  • Must be able to produce simple nanostructures
  • Must be able use models to describe nanostructures
  • Build a project report according to the field's norms, include relevant literature, use correct academic language and communicate the project's problem and results in a written and oral manner coherently, including the connection between the problem formulation, the project's execution and the main conclusions.
  • Justify the choice of methods, models and other tools used in the project work, and assess the project's problem in relevant academic and theoretical context


  • Must have a basic practical and theoretical understanding of simple artificial and natural nanostructures
  • Must be able to apply basic theories to create and describe simple nanostructures
  • Must be able to reflect over basic theories used for creation and characterization of simple nanostructures
  • Handle planning and implementation of a project and handle complex and development-oriented tasks during the project work as well as contribute to the project group's work and results.
  • Identify own needs for continued development and learning within the subject area

This is a 10 ECTS project module and the work load is expected to be 300 hours for the student.
