The module builds on basic knowledge in automation and control, machine learning and signal processing, and wireless communication.

Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

This course talks about the state-of-the-art theories and methods in electronic systems, with a special focus on the core topics of the program, i.e. automation and control, machine learning and signal processing, and wireless communication. The course gives insight to established theories and methods but also emerging concepts and ideas from academia and industry.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

  • Must have an overview over theories for the emerging electronic systems within the three core topics
  • Must have an understanding of the major technology problems in existing electronic systems within the three core topics
  • Must have knowledge about new solutions to the major problems within the three core topics

Skills

  • Must be able to analyse research papers related to the main topics of this course and discuss these with peers in a structured manner
  • Must be able to apply new, or cutting edge, theories and/or methods to a selected research problem within one of the core topics of the master program

Competences

  • Must be able to identify relevant state-of-the-art theories and methods given a concrete research problem related to one of the core topics of the master program
  • Can formulate research problems based on cutting edge research and/or techniques
