Learning objectives
Knowledge
The student must attain
Knowledge and understanding of:
- ongoing issues regarding the role of language in contemporary social and political issues with respect to, for gender, ethnicity and race and within social and political areas such as institutions, the media, and integration
- relations between language, culture, identity and power in society in the English language.
Skills
The student must attain
Skills in:
- analyzing and understanding social, cultural, and political identities as discursive practices
- analyzing and understanding the between language and power in society and politics.
Competences
The student must attain
Competencies in:
- contributing relevant knowledge to the elucidation and discussion of the relationship between language, power, and politics
- communicating about issues in contemporary social and political discourse in a clear written English.

An internal individual portfolio examination in Contemporary Social
and Political Discourses (Nutidige sociale og polistiske
diskurser).
The examination is an individual exam portfolio; the content of the portfolio must demonstrate that the student has achieved the above-mentioned learning objectives and has participated actively in course activities. The requirements for the contents of the portfolio will be determined by the course instructor at the start of the semester. The portfolio will be evaluated by the examiner. Any re-examinations will be held in accordance with the above guidelines on the basis of a revised exam portfolio. |
