CONTENT, PROGRESS AND PEDAGOGY OF THE MODULE
Objectives
Transnational migration: This course provides the background for understanding the complexity of the ways in which global flows affect or alter the social structures at several levels. Theories and case studies will be presented as the basis for analysing various dimensions within development and migration. The students will be assessed based on their ability to reflect upon methodology and problem based learning processes, especially as regards development of own skills in addressing interdisciplinary work
Ethics and mobility: The objective of the module is to provide students with knowledge of critical analysis of core themes within Ethics and Mobility. Limitations to mobility and the ethics herein will be core themes of this course. The students will be assessed based on their skills in methodological considerations to discover progress in problem based learning processes, especially by showing skills in showing development of own skills addressing interdisciplinary work
Sustainable development and social change: The objective of the module is to provide students with knowledge of sustainable development and social change caused by migration flows and their global impact in order to create an understanding of the complex dynamics between individuals and institutions involved in sustainable development.
Contents
Transnational migration: The course includes themes within: globalisation and challenges to local cultures and identities; development and change.
Ethics and mobility: The course includes themes within: Mobility regimes; Cases from various areas of the world with a focus ethics that are particularly relevant to planning and policy within the field of mobility; financial crises and their implications for different regions.
Sustainable development and social change: The course includes themes within: community based development and sustainability; transnational identities and social change; sustainable development goals.
The module consists of lectures and seminars, including exercises and student contributions.

An internally assessed individual written examination. The
examination is a 48-hour take-home assignment comprising issues
within the three subject areas. The assignment paper must not
exceed 10 pages. |
