Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

In the module, the student must acquire theories and methods of analysis within one of several key communication areas.

Courses in one or more of the following three disciplines are offered in connection with the module:

  • Organization, Participation and Communication
  • Aesthetics, Culture and Communication
  • Publics, Politics and Communication

Learning objectives

Knowledge

Through the module the student must acquire knowledge about:

  • current research within one of the disciplines Organization, Participation and Communication; Aesthetics, Culture and Communication and Publics, Politics and Communication
     
  • theories within one of the disciplines as well as comprehension of scientific objectives and problems within the field       
     
  • analytical methods of relevance for one of the disciplines

Skills

Through the module the student must acquire skills:  

  • to choose and use theory, methods and analytical approaches in relation to problems within one of the disciplines
  • to analyze, discuss and evaluate communication interventions on a scientific basis within one of the disciplines

Competences

Through the module the student must acquire compentences:  

  • to identify and define complex problems within one of the disciplines and suggest new models for understanding and/or solutions 
  • to combine knowledge and skills within one of the disciplines

The examination is a take-home written assignment in which the student answers one of the subject-related question(s) on the basis of a listed syllabus for the assignment.

Students must prepare the assignment individually.

Number of pages: The written assignment must be no less than 12 and not exceed 15 pages.
