Content, progress and pedagogy of the module

The objective of the module is that the student shall achieve the necessary knowledge, skills and competences to discuss and analyse key concepts, methods, models, tools and issues within financing, hereunder develop knowledge of the financial markets. The student shall acquire the necessary skills to prepare analyses, participate in and contribute to the solution and discussion of specific financial issues in a company on a business economic foundation.

Learning objectives

Knowledge

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary knowledge on:

  • the theories, concepts, models and methods of the subject area as well as overall knowledge of the financial markets.
  • the various financial issues of the company and the shareholders.
  • key aspects within the theories, models and methods of the subject area.

Skills

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary skills in:

  • identifying theoretical and practical issues for businesses to establishing and choosing solutions, thus demonstrating the ability to analyse, deduce, balance and evaluate the alternative actions. 
  • reflecting on the theoretical reference frame and applying this to analyse financial issues concerning companies, shareholders or the financial market as such.
  • calculating, interpreting and comparing financial prices, return on investment and requirements for such return as well as key figures.

Competences

The objective is that the student after the module possesses the necessary competences in:

- identifying how knowledge and reflection on the theoretical reference frame of the subject area make it possible to understand and work with financial issues.

- analysing and evaluating results with regard to validity, application and limitations with a view to creating a basis for decision and a conclusion based on the performed analyses and calculations.

- disseminating knowledge and analyses within the subject area and to be able to participate in and contribute to a solution to and discussion of specific financial issues in a company.

  • A prerequisite for participating in the exam is that the student has participated actively in developing written material during the module.
