Modulets indhold, forløb og pædagogik

The module provides students with knowledge of selected topics and current issues within development and international relations and allows students to analyze these themes while applying relevant theoretical perspectives. The module also enables students to understand how development processes and international relations are linked within selected topic areas. Students will be asked to link theory to empirical cases using a problem-based approach.

The module consists of several seminars on topics relevant to Development and International Relations, paying special attention to the linkage between development processes and international relations.

The module forms the basis for further empirical and theoretical analysis within the field in the project module of the semester, cf. the module Project Module II

Viden

  • Comprehend central concepts, theories and academic debates in relation to the linkage between development and international relations
  • Possess knowledge of selected empirical cases or topical issues within the field of development and international relations.

  • Are able to identify and delimit a problem area based on an empirical and theoretical understanding of a field within which development and international relations are interlinked.
  • Have the ability to select and apply relevant theoretical perspectives to the chosen topic or debate

Kompetencer

  • Can work independently on a topic linking development and international relations based on an empirical and theoretical understanding.
  • Can identify, research, describe and analyze complex interdisciplinary questions relating to development and international relations
  • Can communicate their research findings to an academic audience in a succinct manner either orally or in writing

Undervisningsform

The module consists of lectures, discussions, exercises and student contributions.

Aktiv deltagelse og/eller skriftlig opgave
The examination for module 10 is an internally assessed individual examination consisting of a requirement of active participation in the module’s teaching sessions and activities. The study board will define the requirements for active participation at the beginning of the semester.

Any re-examination will be a 48-hour take-home assignment set by the course instructor. The assignment paper must not exceed 8 pages.
